An Advent 4-week book discussion on John Dear’s THE NONVIOLENT LIFE

john dear book pictureEach Monday night of Advent this year, Project Peace will host a book discussion on John Dear’s very popular book:  The Nonviolent Life.  This book is perfect for our preparation for Christmas when we celebrate the peace-filled person Emmanuel–God with us.

In reading the book myself, I felt that this book must be shared with the greater public.  I will order 15 books from Amazon for about $10.00/book.  They will be used but in very good condition. Please call 419.447.0435 ext. 136 to be a part of the group.

Blessings.  sr. Paulette

I bought this book after I heard John Dear speak about it at the SOA Vigil weekend in Fort Benning last November. The book is filled with practical advice that we can apply in our daily lives. He starts with the personal, moves on to the interpersonal, and then helps us imagine joining together in a global nonviolent movement for a more peaceful and just world. Dear encourages us to build a foundation for nonviolence by spending time every day reading the Gospels and absorbing who Jesus was and how he lived. He tells us that daily contemplative prayer will help heal the violence and hurt within us and prepare us to lead “The Nonviolent Life.” He has keen insight into the personal journey we all must make. I highly recommend it.

Kathleen, I’m thinking to do it from 3:00-4:00 since it will dark early. How does this sound to you? How wonderful it would be to have you and Paul here for the discussion….you’ll be here in the North yet at that time? When do you go to the border?
